Pet adoptions just $20 at Placer County’s Auburn shelter July 5 - 18
July 05, 2016
The “Dog Days of Summer” are going-on at Placer County’s animal shelter in North Auburn. Facing a spring surplus of wagging tails, the county’s animal services center will lower adoption fees from July 5 - 18. Dog adoptions - normally $118 plus a $20 licensing fee - are just $20 (plus the $20 licensing fee). Cat adoption fees are reduced from $98 to $20 (no licensing fee).
“With the summer weather calling us outside, now’s a great time to get out and exercise with a new pet and give one of these wonderful animals a forever home,” said Peggy Zarriello, interim animal services manager.
Dog adoption fees include the cost of the heartworm test (for dogs over 6 months); a first heartworm preventative pill; flea and tick prevention; a first distemper, parvo and bordetella vaccination; rabies vaccination (if over 4 months); deworming; microchipping; and spay or neuter procedures.
Cat adoption fees include the cost of feline AIDS and leukemia test; a first feline distemper vaccination; deworming; rabies vaccination (if over 4 months); microchipping; and spay or neuter procedures.
