Merrill Haber joins Placer County Planning Commission representing District 5
April 04, 2017
The Placer County Board of Supervisors today approved the appointment of Merrill C. Haber to the Placer County Planning Commission representing District 5.
Haber is a resident of Homewood in Lake Tahoe and brings over 30 years of experience as an attorney and mediator. His legal career has ranged from being a senior manager for two national law firms to having his own practice in San Francisco and later serving as general counsel for a group of companies headquartered in Sonoma.
“I’m pleased to see Merrill come on board the planning commission representing the 5th District,” said Placer County District 5 Supervisor Jennifer Montgomery. “We had an exceptional pool of candidates, and this was a very tough decision having so many great applicants to choose from. I think his experience as an attorney and mediator will make him an especially valuable asset that will help balance well-planned development with community interests. I look forward to hearing his insight on upcoming projects.”
Prior to his legal career, Haber managed the strategic planning and business analysis for a Fortune 500 company. He earned his Juris Doctor with honors from the University of San Francisco and also holds a Master of Business Administration in finance.
“I’m always looking to give back to the communities that I live in and I think that serving on the planning commission is a great opportunity to do so,” Haber said. “I hope to use my experiences to help shape the future of not only my local community in North Tahoe but also Placer County as a whole.”
The planning commission is composed of seven members, one from each of the five Placer County supervisorial districts and two at-large members appointed by the board of supervisors. During his four-year term as the District 5 seat, Haber will help advise the Placer County Board of Supervisors on planning and related matters.
